‘ICE Out of Minnesota’ Day Leads to ~100 Arrests at Airport and Whipple Building

A near statewide general strike for January 23 dubbed ‘ICE Out of Minnesota’ came during a day where the high temps reached -11°F. Clergy and faith leaders demanding “ICE out” led a mass protest at the MSP International Airport and participated in acts of civil disobedience by praying on the road. Around 100 were arrested. At least two arrests occurred outside the Whipple Federal Building, the headquarters of the federal immigration operation and occupation of the state. Multiple roadways to the building that’s been a flashpoint for protests were blockaded, preventing ICE vehicles from driving through for increments of time, while ice balls and snow balls were thrown at federal vehicles near the entrance to the parking lot.
