Denver, CO – On Sunday, December 10, 2017, members of advocacy group Denver Homeless Out Loud gathered outside Denver City Hall to call attention to the baby Jesus manger scene. The group is using satire to expose how cruel and arbitrary the Unauthorized Camping Ordinance is, which criminalizes surviving without housing. The group has been sending e-mails to the mayor and to city council members for the past few weeks urging them to ticket and/or arrest baby Jesus for illegally camping. The group also plans to send a video of themselves singing their version of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” to Mayor Hancock, which they changed to “The Twelve Days of Camping.”
