Sunday, March 12, family and friends of slain forest defender Manuel “Tortuguita” Terán gathered at Weelaunee People’s Park to celebrate their life and memorialize the beloved child, friend and activist. After relatives shared memories of Terán, those gathered walked into Weelaunee, where Tortuguita was killed by Georgia State Patrol troopers in January, and scattered their ashes.
