Pro-Palestine Chicagoan Explains Why They’re Protesting DNC

Toward the end of the “March on the DNC 2024” coalition’s rally and march during the first day of the Democratic National Convention, when thousands reached Westhaven Park (Park 578) north of the United Center where the DNC is taking place, Unicorn Riot interviewed a number of protesters. One pro-Palestine Chicagoan said how the Democrats “don’t really support a Democratic platform” and how the Democrats could call for a ceasefire and stop aiding Israel.

“We give them more than just money for arms and ammunition, we are floating their whole economy, while we have people here who don’t have healthcare, who can’t afford housing, who have to work two jobs just to feed their children, daycare’s expensive, everything’s so expensive. We need help here — those millions and billions of dollars — here, at home.”
