Since Oct. 2023, Israel has bombed nearly 70% of all United Nations-run schools in Gaza that are housing displaced Palestinians. Israel claims Hamas uses the schools as command centers. Nearly 16,500 Palestinian children have been killed by Israel over the last year in the Gaza Strip – many of them victim to Israeli bombs on UNWRA schools like this one in the Nuseirat refugee camp in May 2024.
