BLM Plaza Rally on Trump’s Last Day
Washington, D.C. – Dozens gathered at BLM Plaza on Tuesday afternoon to celebrate a new chapter in American history and change in administration. Despite miles of road closures people still found their way to the plaza which is located directly in front of the White House.
In addition to the road closures, residents and visitors in town for the 59th inauguration also had to maneuver through the checkpoints that have been setup at every interstate exit that leads to D.C.
The security measures are a a response to the deadly Capitol attack on Jan. 6 which has also resulted in 25,000 troops being deployed to the Nation’s capital city.
President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President elect Kamala Harris are scheduled to be sworn into their positions at 12 p.m. EST.
The emergency security measures are scheduled to be in full effect through Friday, Jan. 22.
