Protesters Blockade Weapons Manufacturer in Plymouth MN in Solidarity with Palestine

Plymouth, MN – An early morning protest in support of Palestinians at Northrop Grumman in Plymouth was initiated around 4 a.m. on February 8, 2024. Dozens of people blockaded the driveway. Two people locked down to barrels, police issued dispersal orders and made four arrests early on. Later they extracted both the people locked to the barrels. Northrop Grumman manufactures weapons that Israel uses against Palestinians.

One of the two protesters locked down spoke with Unicorn Riot about why they were taking action:

“Good morning. I’m out here locked down in the driveway of a Northrop Grumman munitions plant in Plymouth, Minnesota, right near Minneapolis. And I’m out here today because the weapons that are being manufactured at this facility are being sold to empires around the world, including Israel, for genocide and violence. And knowing that these weapons are being produced right here in our communities in the heart of empire, we have a responsibility to stand up and take action. And today, in Minneapolis, there’s politicians debating whether or not to call for a cease fire. And I’m tired of waiting for politicians to take action. We know that the state is not going intervene to stop a settler colonial project happening in Palestine. And here I am today with some of the most beautiful people I’ve ever known standing up to actually stop workers from coming into this plant to produce weapons. And I’m really grateful for the community and the chance to be here today.”
