Gazans Flock to Beaches Amid Record Breaking Heatwave

Gaza Sea, Gaza, Palestine — The Gaza seashore has become the only outlet for the residents of the Gaza Strip to escape the sweltering heat during record breaking temperatures this summer. About 2 million citizens inhabit the Gaza Strip, living under a suffocating land, sea, and air blockade by the Israeli occupation and continuous power outages.

The heat has provided little refuge and Gazans have found the sea as the least expensive and coolest recreational places to spend time at.

The sea shores extending from north to south saw the influx of thousands of residents who went for walks and entertainment on the beach. This comes at the end of a heavy academic year, providing a much needed break to students and families living in a tightly confined 365 square km area.
