The Trial of Political Prisoner Eric King

Political prisoner Eric King was sentenced to 10 years in prison for throwing a Molotov cocktail at a congressional office in Kansas City, MO in 2014 in response to the police killing of Mike Brown in Ferguson. King suffered attacks by prison guards during his incarceration and went on trial for a charge he acquired while in prison for allegedly assaulting a Federal Bureau of Prisons officer. J20 – Criminalizing Dissent in Trump’s First Term

Vaughn Uprising – Prison Revolt Trial Coverage

In 2017, a prisoner revolt took place in the Vaughn Correctional Center in Delaware. Inmates held several guards while demanding an improvement to the poor living conditions in the prison. The ‘Vaughn Uprising’ was ended the next day by police retaking the building with force. One guard was found dead. Unicorn Riot covered several of the subsequent trials that took place in which inmates were charged with crimes related to the uprising. Check out our coverage here.
